Board Members & Minutes

Friars Cove Lodge, Inc. is governed by the Board of Directors. There are five volunteer positions — President, Treasurer, Secretary, Pool & Grounds and Facilities — all of which have two year terms. To maintain continuity, two terms are elected one year and three the following year. The election takes place in January of each year.

Lodge cleaning responsibilities are handled by Jim Jaskoskie. The webmaster is Phil Landers.

By clicking on the name of the officer in blue, you can send them an e-mail with ideas, comments or praises.

All board positions end in January.  However they are staggered -- 2 positions one year with 3 positions the following term.  The positions are 2 year terms.  You run for the board and then the new board decides on positions.

 

 

May 12, 2010 Minutes

Dominick DiSilvio called  the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m.

Members in Attendance:    Rick Delawder, Greg Stopka

President's Report:   April  minutes were approved. We will be picking out a date for Spring Clean-up.    

Treasurer's Report:    The second payment for our 2010 Dues are needed. You must be paid up to use the pool.

Lodge Operations Report:   The lawn service is doing a nice job. We will be installing new doors in the kitchen and basement ASAP.  

                     Pool and Grounds Report:  Sheri & Tom are looking forward to another great pool season. We are putting   together the lifeguard crew and will be ready to open.

April 14, 2010 Minutes

Dominick DiSilvio called  the meeting to order at 8:10 p.m.

President's Report:   Pool opening is the focus.  Thank you to Ralph Cimino for his service on the board.  Thank you to Mary Lou Costabile for running the NCAA pool which raised $500 for a television.  Thank you to Don Puchalski for the extra $100 and Mike Daleki for donating his $10 winnings – we were able to purchase a nice flat screen and wall bracket.  Thank you to Mike Daleki and Mike Durec for installing our new 42” flat screen television – it looks great!  Also, thank you to Amy Parent and Laura Sue Collela for running the Kids Easter Egg Hunt.  

Treasurer's Report:     Thank you to all who have paid their dues, our budget is back on track for 2010.  A reminder to those who have not paid, dues should be dropped off to Mike Durec, our treasurer on: Baynard Road .  The first ˝ was due April 1, 2010 and the second ˝ May 15, 2010 .

Lodge Operations Report:  After bid reviews, we retained the service provider from last year who has done an excellent job with the lawn service and is also economical.

Pool and Grounds Report:  Looking forward to another successful pool season with Sheri & Tommy.  Sheri is in the process now of hiring guards.                 

                     New Business: Again, we are paperless for 2010 and will only be emailing flyers and minutes and posting them             to the we he website.  If you know of anyone that is not getting the minutes and flyers, please have have them             send their email address to Mary Lou Costabile so we can add you to the lodge   Emailing list. 1001@aol.com.   We will look at the pavement of the parking lot in coordination with the street paving.

March 10, 2010 minutes

President's Report:   Annual Meeting Minutes were approved.  Budget is tight due to the new $7000.00 furnace that had to be replaced.  

Treasurer's Report:     Money is tight. Anyone who can prepay 2010 dues would be appreciated. Dues are due on April 1, 2010 - $800.00    or      4/1/10  $400.00 &  5/15/10  $400.00   There was no dues increase from last year.

Lodge Operations Report: Lawn service for this  year 2010 is in the bidding process. We are looking at getting several bids.  

                     Pool and Grounds Report: The tag team of  Sheri & Tommy will be back for the 2010                               season. The excellent  management of the lifeguards saved the members a lot of money.

Annual Meeting (1/31/10) minutes

Mike Durec called  the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m.  

Board Members In Attendance:   Tom Edmier-Pool, Mike Durec-Treasurer 

Absent:  Dan Danhauer-Secretary and Dom DiSilvio-President

Members in Attendance:    Mary Lou Costabile, Mike Daleki and Dan Supis

President's Report:   2009 went as well as expected given the challenging year our economy presented.  We are hoping for more prosperity in 2010.  A few capital improvements were made in 2009 as well.  We are looking forward to the new year in our neighborhood.           

Treasurer's Report:     Currently in budget, thank you to the members who did prepay their 2010 dues.  There will NOT be a dues increase this year.  Dues are $800 and due on April 1, 2010 .  They can also be made in 2 payments:  $400 on 4/1/2010 and $400 on 5/15/2010 .   The check should be payable to: Friars Cove Lodge, Inc. and delivered to Mike Durec on Baynard Rd.   

Lodge Operations Report: Mike Daleki is our new board member and will preside over the Lodge Operations.  Dan Supis offered to help Mike with Lodge Operations. Thank you to Mike and Dan for the assistance this year!   

Pool and Grounds Report:  Pool ran smooth last year, thanks to the assistance of Sheri D’Ambrose who will hopefully help again this year.  Weather permitting, we are hoping to have the pool open Memorial Day weekend.                             

            New Business:  

We are now “Green” and paperless.  Thank you to Phil Landers who will continue to manage our website:  friarscove.com .  Please visit the website for any current information and postings.

 The television at the lodge is inoperable.  It was decided to host a “NCAA FINAL FOUR” tournament pool and have $500 of the proceeds used for a new television.  The squares will be $20 each and will be offered to Friars Cove members thru Sunday, March 7th – after that anyone may purchase a square. You will get the same numbers for every game of the NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament with the chance of winning set amounts for each round.  You can drop off your check for your square or squares payable to Friars Cove Lodge, Inc. at either Mike Durecs house or to Mary Lou Costabile @ her office – 1001 W. Lake Street (across from Dappers).  We will also have a get together to watch the championship game on Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Lodge on our new television.  Pizza and salad will be offered at $7.50 / person; BYOB (Bring your own beverages) for drinks!! The Fitness Trial Classes were attended by several members and it was decided to start a once a week/12 week class on Wednesdays, starting on March 3, 2010 from 7 to 8 pm .  If successful, we will begin a 2 day a week class after the first session ends.  The cost is between $7 and $8.50 per class depending on enrollment.  Please email Mary Lou Costabile at hjl1001@aol.com if you are interested in joining!

Board meeting adjourned at 8:50 pm . There was no meeting in February and our next meeting     will be on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 8:00 pm. (Right after the exercise class).
