Pool & FacilitiesAny member of Friars Cove Lodge, Inc. in good standing can use the grounds during posted hours. These facilities are not available for use by non-member Friars Cove residents, even as guests of members. The pool phone number is 630-628-0438. This phone does not allow long distance calls. For 2009:
Swimming PoolThe outdoor swimming pool is the most popular attraction. It is open Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, weather permitting. Occasionally, continued warm weather enables the pool to be open after Labor Day. A certified lifeguard is on duty all hours the pool is open!

The LodgeThe Lodge holds up to 125 people. There are 100 chairs with round and rectangular tables. It is air conditioned and heated. Anyone can rent the Lodge for their own party — it does not matter whether you are a member, a resident, or even live in Addison, IL. To rent the Lodge, please contact Mary Lou. The Lodge phone number is 630-628-0840. The phone will only be answered if someone is in the Lodge (i.e. for a party). The phone does not allow outgoing long distance calls. Tennis CourtsOnly tennis is allowed on the two tennis courts. Roller skating or any related activity is not allowed on the tennis courts. The tennis courts will be removed, as a cost-cutting measure PlaygroundThe playground area with swings, jungle gym and more is not supervised and the equipment should be used at your own risk. A playground committee has been formed and is raising money for new playground equipment. Volleyball Nets, Pond and Park AreaThe volleyball nets are available on a first come, first served basis. There is also a pond and park area. These areas are not supervised. Members are advised to supervise children playing near the pond.
Joggers, Walkers and BikersFor joggers, walkers and bikers: the distance around Friars Cove in the "figure 8" pattern is approximately one mile. ParkingThere are parking lots on the southwest and north sides of the Lodge. Park in the north lot to get to the only stairs with a handrail (located at the northeast corner of the Lodge). Overflow parking is on the streets (note the exceptions below.)
No parking in the Lodge parking lots except during Lodge functions or during pool hours or you will be subject to towing. If possible, park in the north parking lot. The southwest parking lot, when not filled with cars, is for basketball. No parking on Friars Cove streets on weekdays from 8:00am to 3:00pm when school is in session. You will be ticketed. No parking is allowed on any street in the village of Addison from 2:00am to 5:00am. No parking is allowed on any street in the village of Addison after 4 or more inches of snow has fallen until the snow removal procedures are concluded. (Obviously, the pool is out of season then.)
Swimming Pool Rules, 2009Beginning
Saturday, May 30th the pool will be open regular summer hours from
May 30th-late August. (We
apologize for any inconvenience over the upcoming holiday weekend but with so
much rain we have been unable to paint.) 1.
Guest passes are required for all guests
except immediate family members (Immediate family includes members adult
non-resident children and grand children). Lodge
members must be present in the pool area at all times with pool guests
(exception for rentals, see #2). Member
must provide a guest pass (5 reusable-red or purchased-yellow) for
each guest entering pool area. As
a courtesy to your neighbors and for the safety of all patrons you must inform
the manger (preferably 24 hours ahead of time) of your plans to have more than
15 guests at any time so staff can be scheduled accordingly.

Members renting the Lodge (not member sponsored
rentals) are allowed to use the pool. The
member is required to pre-arrange the desire for pool use with the pool manager
and pay for all guest passes in excess of 5.
Member MUST be on Lodge grounds while guests are using the pool.

All people entering the pool must sign in. 4.
The pool staff has the right to refuse admission, or
to dismiss from the pool, any guest unaccompanied by a member or any person who
endangers the safety of others in the pool area. 5.
No shoes are to be worn on the pool deck when the
pool is open for swimming. Exception:
Adult parties and special events as authorized by the board. 6.
Food and beverages are only allowed on the wooden
deck when the pool is open for swimming. All
drinks in the pool area must be in plastic or metal containers.
NO GLASS! Plastic water
bottles will be allowed on the pool deck but must remain a minimum of four feet
from the perimeter of the pool. Exception:
Adult parties and special events as authorized by the board. 7.
There is absolutely NO SMOKING allowed anywhere on
the pool deck AND/OR wooden decks. 8.
No metal toys or glass objects are allowed in the
pool area. Life jackets and plastic
or inflatable toys are allowed in the shallow end of the pool only. 9.
All swimmers must wear a swimsuit.
Exception: Clean white t-shirt to protect from sun. 10.
Soap showers must be taken before entering pool.
No loitering is permitted in the shower room area. 11.
Members are responsible for any
damage, accidental or otherwise, to Lodge property caused by themselves, their
children or their guests. 12.
Adult swim/guard break will be
held 10 minutes prior to every hour (i.e. 1:50, 2:50…) every hour at the
discretion of the lifeguard on duty.
Children under the age of 18 are not allowed in the pool during the
break. This
includes the step area of the pool. 13.
Any child under the age of 10 must
be accompanied by a person who is at least 13 years of age and who will be
responsible for and watch the youngster at all times.
Exceptions can be authorized by the Pool Manager after the child passes a
swim test and is deemed able to obey pool rules. 14.
Pool hours will be posted.
Generally the following will apply (adults are defined as 18 years or

Use of the pool after 9:00 PM (
the following does not apply for Lodge Rentals).
This applies to adult homeowner members and their children only.
This does not include guests of any kind, including other members
children. In order for children to
be present in the pool during this time the lodge member must be present.
Those members must be at the pool before the 9:00 PM closing and make
arrangements with the lifeguard on duty to leave the gate open.
They must clear the pool and LOCK the gate when they are done.
Climbing the fence to use the pool by anyone at anytime is considered in
violation of the pool rules and action will be taken.
Please be sensitive to those who live near the pool so they do not have
to contend with excessive noise. Swim
at your own risk when a lifeguard is not present. 16.
The pool may be close for the
following reasons: ·
Temperature below 70 degrees ·
Impending rain or thunderstorm, or
lightening at any time ·
Damage to the pool or area which
may be a safety risk Thank
