Dinner & Wine Tasting in Geneva, IL Sunday, April 3, 2005
The weather was warm enough to sit outside Chianti's restaurant, waiting for the hosts, Phil & Pam Landers, to arrive and others to finish browsing/shopping the quaint shops of Geneva, IL. Those who drove Miatas to the event got to drive top down!
25 Windy City Miata Clubbers dined on delicious Italian food at Chianti's.
Galena Cellars was expecting us. 26 WCMC'ers enjoyed sampling the wines. They're good.
The bar was where we got samples of 8 different wines. Many of us bought a glass of wine and/or bottles plus other wine-related merchandise in the inviting shop.
A good time was had by all.
Thanks to the first day of Daylight Savings Time, it was warm enough to sit outside in the evening. That was delightful
Thanks to John Semenek (license plate ONLY FR 2) for the pictures, e-mailed the next day!
Want to take a group to Galena Cellars? It's a minimum of 10 people, maximum of 25. $10 for sampling 8 wines with snacks. Must pay one week in advance. $30 deposit holds the date.

Galena Cellars wine store
Join the Windy City Miata Club and your hosts Phil & Pam Landers for a day in Geneva, IL -- a far west suburb of Chicago, Roosevelt Rd/Route 38 & the Fox River. See the two maps below. Park your car for everything is in walking distance. First -- spend the afternoon browsing the quaint/vintage stores of Geneva, IL. Do this on your own, at your own pace. Most of the stores are clustered on 3rd Street south of Roosevelt Rd/Rt 38/State St and north of Galena Cellars wine store. Most of the stores close on Sundays at 4:30pm or 5:00pm. Second -- join the Landers' and other Windy City Miata Clubbers at Chianti's restaurant, 207 S. 3rd Street, 630-232-0212. We will have our own private dining room, the Fireside Room, upstairs. Come anytime at or after 5:00pm. We'll finish by 6:30pm. Order off the regular menu. We will get separate checks -- so you pay that evening for what you order. Dinner is optional but encouraged. Third -- the main event, wine tasting at Galena Cellars, 477 S. 3rd Street, 630-232-9463. From 6:30pm to 8:00pm, we will sample/taste eight wines plus snack on beautiful pastries and other desserts. The cost is $10 per person. You can purchase a glass of wine for $3, $4 or $5, depending on the wine. All wine purchases made that evening will receive a 10% discount. There are 12 stools in the store but none at the bar. In the unlikely event that the weather is good, they will set up their outdoor tables and chairs. Some people will likely be standing the whole time. Mosey up to the bar for a sample, mill around talking to people and discussing the wines, look at the bottles of wine and other merchandise in the store. Minimum at Galena Cellars is 10 people, maximum is 25. That is true for dinner as well.
Deadline to sign up is Saturday, March 19. To reserve your spot
